Thomas Raymond Yearms, a cherished husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 79, surrounded by his family and his faithful four-legged companion, Hunter.
Born and raised in Warren, Ohio, Tom was the son of the late Charles and Florence Yearms. From a young age, he displayed a boundless curiosity for the world around him, a trait that would carry him through a rich and full life.
Tom was the proud father of Tobias Ryan Yearms and Michael Alexander Yearms, and a devoted father-in-law to Janine Lynn Yearms and Amber Leigh Yearms. Later in life, he took great joy in becoming “Grandpa Beep Beep” to his granddaughter, Genevieve, who brought him endless happiness and pride. He was also a loving brother to Sandra Joblonicky.
Tom’s professional life was as dynamic and enterprising as he was. A self-made entrepreneur, he found success in both the oil and gas and finance industries, where his sharp instincts and tenacity earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Outside the office, Tom was most at home on the water. He was a licensed boat captain and certified diving instructor whose love for the ocean shaped much of his life. Whether he was fishing off the coast, exploring the depths below the surface, or simply watching the tide roll in, the sea was his sanctuary. His stories from those adventures—told with a mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eye—were legendary among family and friends.
At the center of Tom’s life was his cherished wife of over 40 years, Virginia Ann Yearms. After spending many joyful years in Sarasota, Florida they returned to Ohio to be closer to family. In both sunshine and snow, his greatest treasures were always the people he loved and the memories they created together.
Tom will be remembered for his strength, independence, and generous spirit. He was a man who lived life with passion, who charted his own course, and who always made room at the table for one more. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
He will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
